What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a state of deep relaxation, heightened awareness and hyper suggestibility.

How does hypnosis work?
Hypnosis is an effective process to bypass the conscious mind and communicate directly with the subconscious mind. Like a computer, the subconscious is programmed, by our emotions & feelings as well as, the thoughts of our conscious mind. Hypnosis is the key that opens the door to our subconscious mind, promoting a state of heightened awareness and suggestibility.

How will hypnosis benefit me?
A skillful, certified hypnotherapist can help you change your negatives into positives and improve attitudes, habits, and self-defeating thoughts. With hypnotherapy you can take charge of your life, relieve stress, develop creativity, improve in sports, overcome fears and phobias, improve study habits and alleviate anxiety.

In 1958 hypnosis was formally recognized by the American Medical Association. Today it is widely used for pain control, weight control, relaxation and imagery for wellness.

How do I know if I can be hypnotized?
Almost everyone can be hypnotized if they choose to. There are only four groups of people who are either difficult or cannot be hypnotized.

1. Very young children.
2. People who are under the influence of alcohol.
3. People who are severely mentally challenged.
4. People who don't want to.

What is it like to be hypnotized?
Hypnosis is in between being wide-awake and asleep. You are aware of everything being said yet you are relaxed at the same time. Did you ever wake up in the morning before your alarm clock rings? You could get up if you had to, and yet you are feeling so mellow, so comfortable that you just want to enjoy relaxing for a while. We pass through that level upon awakening and then again at night before we go to sleep. It has been said that 15 minutes of hypnosis is equivalent to a 3-hour nap. After the hypnosis you will feel refreshed and comfortable.

What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is the art of utilizing this state to illicit positive change and improvement in behaviors and physical conditions.

Hypnotherapy has proven to be very effective in helping people remove negative blocks that have been holding them back from achieving their goals, be it personal or business. A certified hypnotherapist can guide the client into a comfortable level of relaxation that leads to heightened focus and awareness in order to release and clear those old negative patterns that have been inhibiting them in some way.

The subconscious mind can be compared to a computer. It stores everything that an individual experiences, both negative and positive, however it would be too much information to be viewed on the computer screen at one time. When guided to do so, the subconscious computer as we call it, can be directed to do a "file search" and can bring up those files associated with the presenting issue that one would like to resolve. Through this process you can see the origin of established behaviors from a better perspective, reframing old negative situations into positive perceptions.

When an experience occurs, the memory is stored in the files of the Subconscious mind along with the emotions and moods existing at that time. Some of these memories are so wrapped up in emotion that they become frozen in time. Sometimes these negative emotions are triggered later in life for no apparent conscious reason, however, the subconscious mind is aware of the reason or cause of the behavior. Since hypnosis addresses the subconscious part of the mind it is there that we can reframe the negative reaction into something positive. For example if a person was extremely frightened by something as a small child, their negative emotional response could have been buried without the benefit of logic or reason. The experience is frozen in time as the client continues to respond in certain present situations as he/she did at the time that the negative experience was created. While one is an hypnotic state, the intensity of painful past experiences can be modified and reduced in intensity. The client can be relieved from the recurring emotions when associated events are recognized. Logic and reason are then employed to change the undesirable perception of the experience in order to remove negative reactions and restore harmony and control within the client. The negative response is then released and cleared so that a favorable resolution replaces the negative perception. Since the Subconscious mind sees and understands by way of pictures and symbols, it can then accept the new scenario as true and can react accordingly.

When a person is in a state of hypnosis, they experience a heightened state of focus and awareness through which they are relaxed, yet aware at the same time. The Sub-Conscious Mind is very interesting because everything that we experience is stored in the files of that marvelous data bank, along with our feeling and thoughts, beliefs that we formed, and decisions that were made. All of this information is there, ready to be accessed at the appropriate time. Hypnotherapy has proven to be very effective in helping people release and resolve the limitations of the past.

What is medical hypnotherapy?
A medical hypnotherapist has extensive training in the medical applications of hypnosis and developing hypnosis programs to effectively compliment standard medical procedures being used. Medical hypnotherapists often work closely with doctors & dentists to formulate specific programs to meet patient's needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will I cluck like a chicken? Tell all my secrets? Take off my clothes? Stand on my head?

A: No! You are in full control of your mind at all times, you can’t be made to do anything you don’t want to do. Those on stage during a show have volunteered to entertain the audience. They want to have fun, experience something new, and do things they wouldn’t normally do in front of others. That’s not what you’re here for, so you won’t feel the urge to do anything silly. I, on the other hand, might make faces, strange noises, spin around on my twirly stool, or laugh uproariously at my own jokes… but I do all that normally anyhow.

Q: Does it really work?

A: It works for everyone who follows instructions. You don’t have to "believe." The only clients I've ever had any trouble with were those who insisted on changing or not following my instructions, to "fit their map" so to speak, instead of letting me guide them through new territory.

Q: How Well Does Hypnosis work?

A: A Comparison Study: American Health Magazine

Psychoanalysis: 38% recovery after 600 sessions
Behavior Therapy: 72% recovery after 22 sessions
Hypnotherapy 93% recovery after 6 sessions

Q: I’m very strong-willed (analytical, independent, control-freakish, etc.), what if I can’t be hypnotized?

A: You’ve nothing to worry about. As long as your IQ is above 70 or so, you have the ability to be hypnotized. Inebriated people are sometimes difficult to hypnotize, as are some mentally disabled people. Generally speaking, the people who are the very easiest to hypnotize are those with great imaginations.

Q: Can I get stuck in hypnosis, like in that movie ‘Office Space’?

A: Never happens. Funny movie, though. No, if the hypnotist passed out or died and you didn’t notice immediately, you would eventually;

A. fall asleep

B. come out of trance by yourself

I would appreciate it though, if you notified me if this ever happens to one of our hypnotists.

Q: I have more questions!

A: Then call right now 1-888-427-8528, and I'll be happy to answer any questions I can, or I'll refer you to someone I feel can help you.
